Every year, I choose one graduating Senior to be the 2 Angels Photography Senior representative. They will get a free shoot, opportunities to earn free prints, and highly coveted discount cards for his friends. This year the Senior rep is Caleb Weaverling!

I have known Caleb his entire life! When he was just a little boy he would flirt with me by telling me that he wore cologne just for me, or he would wink at me, or he would tell me he wore his woman catching boots today. He is all grown up now and will be graduating from Greenwood High School this year. Caleb is the son of Christie and Boyd Weaverling. He active in band and his youth group at Greenwood Baptist Church. He is a great kid, and I had the best time catching up with his wonderful family.

Congratulations Caleb, and great job Christie and Boyd, you should be very proud!

Sneak Peek-The Dickie Family

I was recently invited out to the Dickie Family Ranch to shoot some portraits for Christmas. I was so excited when Laurie called and mentioned that they wanted something with horses. It is my secret desire to be a cowgirl when I grow up, and I simply love being around horses.

We didn't spend alot of time with the horses, but we certainly did get to see alot of horsing around from her very handsome boys. I had a blast with this family!

What is the most asked question I get as a photographer?

“Can you make me look twenty years younger, and Photoshop out my wrinkles?”

I get this question every single day from both men and women alike. The truth is, I can! I have the ability to turn a beautiful 55 year old woman into a stunning 25 year old. Just having that ability at the tips of my fingers makes me feel powerful. I feel as if I could save the world, one wrinkle at a time.

The question isn't something that I get tired of hearing. We all want to look our best at all times, and for something that is going to hang on the wall for generations to come, we definitely want to look our best. The truth of the matter though is that I don't want to, and neither should you!

Don't get me wrong, I am as vain as the next person. Awhile ago I noticed a few lines showing up around my mouth. I was very disturbed, and wanted them to go away. My son walked in while I was staring at the mirror and showed me a test he had made a 100 on in school. Staring at myself while I said, “That is great Michael, I am so proud of you!” I noticed that the lines were deeper as I spoke. I realized that who I am and what I say had made those lines, and if I erased them completely, it would be like erasing all of the, “I love yous" and “great jobs" right from my mouth. I couldn't bear that thought. The lines around my eyes crease when I smile at my husband and kids, and the furrow of my brow gets worse when I am worrying about my children, and crying over proud and sad moments. I get more lines around my eyes every single time I smile or laugh. Those make me who I am, they are the map of where my life has been, and they are souvenirs of the joys I have experienced. I don't want to erase everything that makes me special, and everything that tells my story.

So the next time I am asked this question, how am I going to answer?

I'm going to soften you up, I'm going to pose you and light you so that you look amazing. I'm going to airbrush that pimple from your nose, and brighten up your eyes. You are going to look great, just the way you are. I am going to photograph you so that all of your souvenirs are showcased their best, because those little wrinkles were hard earned and should be celebrated.

Now-go make some laugh lines happen,

A Classic Texas Wedding-Mr. and Mrs. Medlin

It is no secret that I love weddings. The good stuff and the bad stuff, I love navigating my way through a wedding day. I have been shooting weddings consistently for over 8 years now, and every single one of them has it's own chemistry-it is my job to find that chemistry and capture it as I see it. The wedding of Jessi Welch and Kristopher Medlin was no different.

This wedding took place on a sprawling West Texas Ranch. The decor of yellow and white daisies in mason jars, hand carved wooden love birds, and an authentic family owned Chuck Wagon set the tone for the day. As I drove up with every piece of lighting and shooting gear I currently own, I quickly realized that all I was going to need today was my camera, a lens, and a Kleenex to dry my tears. No amount of gear was going to trump the fabulous light and love that God had provided for this wedding-because this wasn't an ordinary wedding-it was a joining of a family, surrounded by family. It was a classic Texas Cowboy wedding.

There is something so free about shooting unencumbered with a ton of gear and technical issues to think about, and I was able to go back to my photojournalism roots to capture the wonderful moments of this day. It reminded me of where I started and to take time to really enjoy why I do what I do.

The pictures below are just a few random moments from the day. Un-edited but for a few Black and white conversions, they radiate the calm, organic feeling of the day. One of my favorites so far.

Richardson-Renfro Wedding

I have written and re-written this blog post many times. It is hard to say what I would love to say about this beautiful event. The flowers, dresses, and music were all just wonderful, the groom handsome and the bride was breathtaking in her beautiful beaded Casablanca gown.

It was a wonderful day full of celebration of the joyous love that Amanda and Jaret have for one another, but it was a bittersweet day for all of them. Amanda's uncle passed after a hard battle with cancer the morning of the wedding. The day was filled with both tears of joy and sadness.

Amanda loved her uncle, and I witnessed such amazing love within this family. Love for the bride, love for the groom, love for the uncle who was most surely there in spirit, walking her down the aisle, handing her over to the loving groom and watching her take her vows. He was there.

The bridal party was the most supportive, loving, and crazy party I have ever encountered, and they reminded me of how lucky I am that people allow me to peer into these moments and capture them forever. Thank you all for that opportunity.

Amanda and Jaret, Thank you for allowing me to be with you one the most important day in your love story. It is truly a day I will never forget.

This past weekend I had the honor of shooting the wedding of the newly minted Mr. and Mrs. Michael Cast. It was a very very hot day outside, but this beautiful couple stayed cool and calm-even during the ceremony when the wedding arch was blown down by the wind. They just giggled. I don't think Michael even noticed, he was too busy staring at his STUNNING bride Lori.

Little Miss "H"

A sweet little glamor girl visited the studio today-loaded down with wonderful outfits and hats! OH MY GOODNESS-she is too beautiful! Miss "H" wasn't too sure about modeling today, but she was great once she found the big green test button on my light box. I am thinking this glamor girl might be an electrical engineer when she grows up :) Here are a few quick pick from her session.

A couple of my favorite images from a recent family shoot. This shoot was taken on the hottest day of the year-outside-at 5:30 PM! It was a challenge, and we only had a short amount of time before we all had a literal meltdown, but I was able to get some great images. This is the second shoot I have had with these beautiful girls, and I am so honored to have had the opportunity to watch them grow-one of them was just a few days old when I last saw her! Imagine my surprise when a walking talking 2 year old got out of the car, and then a new little sister added to the mix! I love watching families grow!

First babies at The Cloud!

It has been forever since I blogged! I didn't mean to forget to feed the blog, I have just been VERY busy! The studio is coming along nicely, I have been working very hard to get everything ready. I have such a vision for this place and I cannot wait to show you all of the amazing things that will happen here.

I do want to take a minute to show off some of the sweet babies that have already visited me here at The Cloud. I am not completely set up yet, but they braved through the remodel project to get some portraits made. I am so excited to show them off to you!

Little Mr. Ian is the son of Trisha and Ken Weatherford, and this tiny little peanut was simply yummy and sweet. Here are a few pictures of his session

Sweet Lady Isabel-Lady Is for short, came to play with me the other day. She was nearly 9 POUNDS when she was born, but I am sure her parents David and Jennifer Odom will agree that she is worth every single pound of it. Lady Is IS special because I have been there for nearly every major milestone in her parents relationship-earning me the name of "Charlotte-I was there-Dameron", and YES I was there at the hospital when she was born. Sweet times with wonderful friends. Her is Lady Is in her first fashion shoot :)

I have so much more to share with you including a beautiful family shoot, some sweet twins, and the upcoming wedding season! I have been so blessed this year, and can't wait to share it all with you!

I have spent quite a few years as a photographer, and I have been in so many random places, and have had the opportunity to meet the most amazing people. The number one question people ask me is "what does this button on my camera do?"

The 2 Angels Photography Learn to Fly-Crash course is designed specifically for the amateur photography enthusiast. The hands on workshop will teach you what all of those buttons and settings on your camera mean, and how to use them to make your pictures better. David and Hallye

David and Hallye are two incredibly sweet souls! You just cant help but feel the love these two radiate. I am so honored to have been a part of their special day. It was an extra special day because Hallye's Grandparents were married 51 years ago on the same date!

Mr. and Mrs. "N" are MARRIED!!!!!!

I had an entire blog post written to describe this dramatically beautiful event, but no words can say what the day felt like better than the words that Marcy picked out for her own ceremony:

Marcy and I share a love for shoes-she totally ROCKED these!

A special handkerchief was her "something old". I simply love embroidered hankies.

There is a long story behind this picture, but lets just say the church lady was NOT happy that I had the guys put their feet on the pews, while I respect the rules of the church, sometimes you just have to ask forgiveness rather than permission :)

The entire month of October, I am offering limited Family Mini Sessions at a drastically discounted price of $50.00. This is the lowest price that you will get all year on a 2 Angels session! Mini Sessions last 30 minutes at a location of your choice (I have a couple of fun locations picked out if you need help) You get 10 fully retouched images in an online ordering gallery and a free Christmas Card design. Images and Christmas cards will be available for ordering in your gallery. In addition, in November I will be running a blog contest in which each session will be highlighted with a favorite image. I will ask blog readers to vote on their favorite image and the winning family will receive a free 16x20 Gallery Wrapped Canvas of their favorite image.

The Dollar Colored Floor

My grandparent's kitchen floor is the color of a dollar bill. Not emerald or hunter, but the color of money. I know this very well because I have stared at it quite a bit the last couple of days. Every time my grandmother stares at the floor searching for the answers that are floating, trapped, filed away somewhere in her fleeting memory, I stare at it looking for the answers with her. I haven't found the answers yet, but I think that if you stare at that linoleum for long enough a magical picture may show up.

Alzheimer's has pressed the repeat button on her memory. A perpetual replaying of all of the most terrible and terrifying moments in my Grandmothers life. Every 15 minutes we go back through the story of my grandfathers death, the night that he collapsed in the den, the night that he was rushed to the hospital and never returned home. She can't remember it, but she knows something went wrong. As soon as she looks at the floor she remembers my grandfather. "I wish I knew where Boyce went." "What is keeping Boyce?" "why didn't anyone tell me he died?" she thinks they are on vacation, and he left her. She thinks that everyone who has passed before all passed away together and left her here all alone to find her own way in the world. It is heartbreaking to go through this every 15 minutes, but I can't help but to think how frustrating it must be to have your memory held hostage by your own body.

In all of the sadness, there are moments that stand out as a silver lining around the dark cloud. A passing comment to well wishers; "I'm sorry my house is a mess, things have been in a tizzy since the passing of my husband" as if it had happened months ago. "It is better to ask who's cake it is before asking what kind of cake it is" when the cake is question is really a rotisserie chicken. "You are getting really fat" to every single adult male that hugs her. These are things that only my grandmother can say and get away with.

Alzheimer's is kind of funny sometimes. She keeps saying she is going to get a job. She told my grandfather's boss that she could work his oil leases if he needed someone to take over for my grandfather. Every so often she will say "what am I going to do?" In my attempt to make things a little less somber, I reply "We will plow the back yard and become farmers" She laughs, smiles, wonders how to go about getting a plow, and forgets the original worry. My favorite solution is that we will go into show business and travel the world performing shows. She liked that idea, but was a little worried about what show we would perform. These times remind me that even in sadness, we must find the humor that gets us through the mental blocks.

My family will never be the same. The gatherings around the table sitting on the dollar colored flooring will be the same, yet vastly different. Great grandparents will leave us to join loved ones waiting on them on the other side of the silver lining, but the love will still be there. The laughter will still ring thick, and the joy that our predecessors have brought to us will continue to grow. This is the legacy left to me by my grandparents. This is the answer that I will find in the dollar colored floor at my Mamaw's house.

I was there

David and Jennifer are some of our best friends, their first kiss was in our garage and I was there. One day David asked me to come over and take some pictures of the two of them, when he got down on his knee to propose to her, I was there (with camera in hand of course! When they promised to love, and cherish each other as Husband and Wife I was there.

A week before the wedding Jennifer and I got together to shoot her bridal portrait. We were getting her dressed, and as I zipped the dress up and put her veil on, Jennifer started glowing. She was beaming as she looked at herself in the mirror and said I feel like a bride. It is a moment that I will carry with me forever.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Odom. I am so honored to say I was there.

Just another quick post! I spent a beautiful afternoon at the park with my boys today, and wanted to show my little handsome boys off!

BTW-this is such a fun unencumbered way of getting great interesting images of your kids-take them to a park, and just let me follow them while they play. I am going to offer Park Mini sessions to celebrate the warm weather! The Golden Family

The Golden family recently invited me over to shoot some very special traditional portraits. When I was finished shooting the portaits, I looked at the grandfather and said "you are one lucky man to be surrounded by all these beauties" He said "I sure am"

It was true, he is a very lucky man, and this is one beautiful family.

I know the trend in portrait photography is contrasty images with funky locations and textures, but I also know that the beautiful traditional family portrait will never go out of style, and it will be the image that will be hanging on the wall long after the "trendy" images have been replaced. I am very proud of these images, and so thankful that the Golden family had me over to create them!

My little buddy-Mr. "C"

This is my little buddy, Mr."C"--recently he invited me over so that he could smile at me and show me how well he handles a pacifier. Michael-My son

Please indulge me for a moment. I MUST brag on my son Michael, and since you are a captive audience, I think this is the best place to brag!

Michael is my oldest son. He is incredibly smart, kind and loving. He loves music, movies, books, and the ladies. It doesn't matter how old or young you are, he will probably cuddle up to you for a hug. Michael is one of the three great loves in my life.

Yesterday he came home from school with a story he had written about himself. He was so excited to tell me his story. I was blown away with how great the story was, so I wanted to share it with you today.

Michaelrrito

Michael loved Bean burrito's more than anything in the world. He loved it more than movies more than Fanta and more than recess. Everyone called him Michaelrrito. One day Michael turned into a bean burrito! Now he felt greasy and mushy. His friend said "you look tasty". Then he grabbed Michaelrrito and tried to eat his hair! "I wish I was me again" said Michael. Then his wish came true! Michael promised to only eat 1 bean burrito a week...starting tomorrow.

Now how cute is that? I may be a little biased, but Beau and I might have a future author on our hands.

Mark and Callie-Married

Oh my goodness, where did 2009 go? Last Saturday I finished my last wedding of the year. Mark and Callie are an adorable little couple, and I was so honored to be able to share the day with them. St. Lukes Methodist Church in Midland was just beautiful; the decor and atmosphere played right into this winter wedding. Thanks Callie and Mark for sharing your day with me. Pumpkin hunting is my favorite fall sport!

I simply LOVE FALL, and my favorite Fall tradition is taking the boys to the Pumpkin Patch at St. Luke's. I don't know why it is my favorite fall tradition; maybe it is the cheery color of the pumpkins. Maybe it is spending an afternoon outside in the cool weather. Maybe it is the hot chocolate we get to enjoy afterwards, either way, it is a great afternoon with my boys.

The Pumpkin Patch at St. Luke's is run by church the sweetest volunteers ever! This year is no different, and he day we went there were tree volunteers there. I forgot to get their names SORRY :( but when we got in the car Gabe said to me "Mommy, it was so nice that those people let us buy one of their very own pumpkins" Sigh tear :)

I always carry my camera with me to the pumpkin patch, and this year the boys made me promise to let them choose where they take pictures "Mom, WE get to choose which pictures you take okay?" They may have broken my heart when they said that but we were able to get some great shots of our fun fall pumpkin hunt, and my dear husband took a shot of me and my little pumpkin hunters!

Something to brighten your day!

You know some days just don't start off the way you want. Today has been a really hard day for me, and I needed a little cheering up. I started working on little Miss M's 6mo pictures and instantly had a big smile on my face. I hope the images below will put a smile on your face too, I mean, how could they NOT put a smile on your face, she is so stinkin' cute! Oh and the boots, are from her big brother Mr. M, I had the best time running around the backyard with him yesterday. Mr. M and I are like peas and carrots!

Thanks Mr. M and Miss. M for letting me come and play with you yesterday, and thanks so much for cheering me up today!

This session has too many adorable images to choose from, so I quite literally closed my eyes and grabbed a few to share with you today.

Oh and before you ask, because I KNOW you will, I think her outfit came from Le BEBE in Midland. If you haven't been to that store, you MUST go over there! My boys are too big for anything in the store, but they have the cutest stuff ever for babies!

The Carroll Family

I have known Stephanie Carroll for a few years now. When we first met, I remember thinking, this woman is radiant, and now having known her for awhile, I have realized that she radiates JOY everywhere she goes! It is one of the things I most admire about her. I had a chance to meet up with her family and shoot some updated portraits! We had a great time catching up and playing and laughing with the kids. Just look at those BEAUTIFUL children--well and of course parents!

Eight years ago today, I was sitting at home feeling sorry for myself. I was very very pregnant with Michael, and the miserable last month of pregnancy had seeped it's way into every pore of my body and soul. I was dozing in bed when I received a phone call from Beau "turn on the TV" he said. I turned it on just in time to see the second tower hit. I saw the news footage showing mass chaos and people jumping out of windows. I remember thinking Oh please let that just be rubble, not people. I saw the cut aways to the streets and people screaming and running. Beau and I stayed on the phone watching TV together. I don't think we said anything, just had the phone in our hands.

I will never forget September 11th, and the effect that it has had on our country. We as a country are changed forever, and Michael who will be eight in less than a month will never know how hard I cried over bringing him into a world of fear. Today on the 8th Anniversary, I am still fearful for our country, I pray that, while making decisions for this country, our leaders will remember the America that rose out of those ashes. Not the fear filled terror, but those who risked everything to save another. I hope that our leaders will remember those who lost their lives, and loved ones, and those who gave their lives to help others not only on September 11th but every other date in history where a mother has sat glued to the TV praying for the future into which her child will be born.

Grandpa, I got married!

I am so very blessed to be able to share amazing moments with my clients. I have been to more weddings than I can count now and each and every wedding is precious. At each event something wonderful sticks out about the wedding. I will come home and tell Beau about the great day, but this wedding was even more special. A moment that I will never never forget, a moment that I am so honored to have been a part of. A moment that left us all in tears.

The petals had been strewn down the aisle by the flower girl, the mothers had lit the unity candle, teary eyed grandparents escorted down the aisle, father beaming with pride as they watched Blanca and Mason join their lives and hearts as one. The wedding was beautiful, and sweet. Full of friends and family and laughter and joy. It was a wedding that every bride wishes for. The only thing to do now, was to party the night away at the reception, but on the way Blanca and Mason made a stop.

Blanca is the oldest grandchild. The first Granddaughter and the light of her Grandfathers eye. Her grandfather would drop by every single day to check on her and bring her gifts and dote upon her. He was too ill and frail to be at her wedding, so her first stop after she became Mrs. Smith was at her grandfathers house. The room at her grandparents house was so tiny her dress would barely fit beside the hosptial bed, but crumpled that dress up and walked to the side of the bed and said
"Grandpa, I got married!"

He cried and laughed and stared at this beautiful bride standing beside him. She introduced Mason to him and the ceremony was complete. It was the single sweetest moment that I have shot at a wedding, and I was so honored to have been able to be there.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Smith! Thank you for the moment you gave me.

Clay Adams with Good Times Magazine called me recently with a wonderful idea he was working on for his advertising clients. They wanted to do a mobster theme, and they wanted it to look different than anything we have seen. So I was really excited to collaborate with him on this project. Below are a couple of the final ad designs I shot the images and did the image artwork. Clay designed the ad and did all of the advertising artwork. Together, I think it was a pretty great collaboration!

A couple of weekends ago we had the chance to get together at my In-Laws brand spankin' new house on Lake Richland Chambers outside of Corsicana, TX. Is is a beautiful home on a fantastic lake, and we are so looking forward to making many family memories. While we were there, I took the opportunity to grab some shots of my adorable niece Mackenzie and nephew Travis.

Mackenzie is a future fashion designer and model. This girl knows how to work it for the camera. I have never seen a child who instinctively knew how to model like Mackenzie does, and it makes my job really easy.

Travis had me running, he had no intentions of having his portrait made, so I made it a game and let him choose where he was photographed. We ran all over Safe Haven (the name of the new house.) Travis had me shooting pictures of him in the bathtub, in the corner, in the window, as long as I pretended it was a game, he let me shoot. I was exhausted but we got some great images of the little turkey.

Last year at Christmas, I offered a limited amount of Mini sessions at a reduced fee. The Mini sessions went so well that I have decided to offer mini sessions for the entire month of June! Here is the skinny:

Mini sessions:

A 30 minute session with me at the location of your choice. This gives us just enough time to get a few great images. You will get an online gallery for you to choose and order your favorite images and print products. Mini sessions are $30 and will be available Wednesday's in June only, and must be scheduled and paid for in advance.

The Wedding Day that Wasn't Perfect

When Lacy started planning her wedding, she had no idea that her day would include 45MPH gusts of wind, rain, and golf ball sized hail! She never envisioned having to start the wedding early to avoid the thunder and lightning, and I am positive she never thought that she would trash her dress by the end of the night. All of those things Lacy never imagined happening...well...they happened, all of those things, it made for nothing less than a fantastic day full of suprises and happy endings. Lacy's wedding day wasn't perfect, but it was FABULOUS, and that is soooo much better than perfect!

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Lacy and Casey Conner! You sailed through the worst weather a wedding day could have, I am positive you can both weather lifes bigger storms with just as much grace, love, and laughter!

Hey Bay it's COOLD Outside!

Lindsey and Weston earn the award for toughest engaged couple ever! I met with them very early Saturday morning to sneak in a quick shoot before they headed back to DFW, and it was freezing! The wind was blowing, and It was so cold, by the end of the shoot I couldn't feel my fingers pushing the buttons on my camera. Lindsey and Weston were troopers though and we had a great time. The good news is that it was so cold they had to do alot of cuddling! I don't think they minded that at all!

Mr. and Mrs. Swafford

My first wedding of 2009 was adorably amazing! I had the honor of shooting the joining of Mr. and Mrs Jerrod and Brandi Swafford, and what a pleasure it was. I feel like I am part of this family now, because this is the second wedding I have shot with this group. Last summer Brandi's cousin Krista was married and I shot that wedding as well. This is one very fine family. Unfortunatley Brandi's Grandmother told me she is fresh out of marrying age Grand-daughters, but Krista just announced that she is preganant so maternity pictures will have to do! LOL! Brandi and Jerrod have an amazing group of people who love them!

Brandi and Jerrod have been best friends and sweehearts since they were fourteen years old! I was so honored to have the chance to shoot thier first moment as man and wife! Congratulations Brandi and Jerrod! Enjoy your honeymoon in Vegas!

Lost in These Moments

"Life is not about how many breaths you take, but the moments that take your breath away." I absolutely believe that, and I have been so very blessed that you all share those breathtaking moments with me every single day.

2008 has been an amazing year for me both personally and professionally. I feel as if I have grown by leaps and bounds. There will always be a few growing pains, but I really can say that 2008 has been the best year ever for 2 Angels! I can't tell you haw many images total I have shot this year, and it is so very hard to choose my favorites, because not only am I personally preserving these moments, I am living them. I am personally attached to every image and every moment I have shot this year.

The moment when the door is opened and the bride is escorted down the aisle by her father, I cry. The moment the groomsman does something silly to break the nervous tension in the room, I laugh. The moment a new big brother holds his baby sister's hand and meets his new best friend, I cry again. These moments are precious. they are priceless, they are fleeting. I get the chance to preserve those moments so that you can look back and get lost in those moments forever.

I took a few minutes to throw together a few of my favorite in a slideshow. I couldn't get all of my favorites in like I wanted, but this is a good collection. I threw in a little bit of everything including some of my personal family snapshots, because without my family and friends, I wouldn't be able to sit here and say all of my dreams are coming true.

My hope for all of you in 2009 is that you will take the time to get lost in the moment.

Christmas Card Winner!

I promised I would post the winner of our Christmas Card contest, and here it is. Last friday night, we had little Lukas in to shoot. Lukas didn't really have any intentions on letting us shoot anything on our terms, and knowing that you don't fight with a toddler, we pretty much let him choose when he wanted to shoot! A few handfuls of M&M's and playing of some games, and we got the shots we needed! I wish all of my models would work for M&M's! Here they are!

The cards came in this afternoon, and they are beautiful! 5x5 cards on thick pearl paper. Anyone who recieves on of these cards is a very special person!

The Fisher Family

We have been so blessed to have Mrs. Fisher come into our children's lives. She was Michael's Kinder teacher and now she is Gabriel's teacher. WE couldn't have asked for a better teacher for our kids,a nd I am so happy to have been able to spend some time with her family the past couple of years.

Last night we met for a few family portraits, and I just wanted to do a quick post here to show off her cute little family. Look at that sweet baby girl yawning! Isn't she precious!
